Those of you who follow my posts online and on LinkedIn will have read my blog Club 18 – 30’s: From Baby to Business. It is about how I went from being homeless and pregnant at 17 to running my business by 30. I got a huge amount of positive feedback from this post so as venerable as I felt sharing my life with the online world, I knew that it was important to be open and honest in order to make a difference. I hope that by sharing my story, others will be inspired to chase their dreams and achieve their goals, too.
One thing that I am passionate about is giving back and helping people who need it most. I feel that now I am in a position to give back, I should take each opportunity that comes my way and with this in mind, I recently signed up to take part in CEO Sleepout.
This April, I will be joining other business owners and sleeping rough for one night to raise money and awareness for local Worcestershire based homelessness and poverty charities. I chose this charity as it’s obviously one close to my heart, but I also loved the fact that CEO Sleepout is run by just a couple of people. The rest are volunteers for the charity in order to keep their costs very low. This means that the money we raise goes directly to the people who need it most and not into paying salaries or the charities running costs.
I have set up a Just Giving page where you can sponsor me. A donation of any size will make such a difference to people struggling with homelessness and poverty. I’d love to hit my £1000 target so please donate and share this far and wide to help me reach my goal. It’s not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference and together, we really can do that.
